Brasserie Huyge Delirium Tremens

Produced since 1989 with the use of three different Belgian yeasts, Delirium Tremens has become the flagship beer of the Familiale Huyghe brewery, in business for over 350 years! It is a beer that quickly established itself as an important reference in Belgium and conquered the world, "on elephant back" in less than 10 years! If those on the label are pink it is in reference to the hallucinations that alcohol withdrawal sometimes causes in some people when they have feverish delusions called: Delirium Tremens. This strong Belgian beer has an easily recognizable ceramic bottle. In the glass it has a slightly golden blonde color under a white foam. The body exudes fruity and spicy aromas which are enriched by hints of alcohol. The aromas of cloves, pepper and coriander precede the smell of alcohol which warms the nose before the hint of fruity aromas of apple and citrus. The entry into the palate is spicy with flavors that are almost reminiscent of wheat beers before the herbaceous flavors of the hops and the fruitiness of the malt assert their presence. Alcohol is perceptible throughout the tasting, but confirms its presence in the mouth with a light vinous acidity. A nice bitter taste accompanies the final part in the mouth. This beer is best enjoyed in its Delirium glass.
