Description
Goose Island Beer Co.’s Bourbon County Brand Sir Isaac’s Stout 2022 is a 13.9% Imperial Stout born from a childhood memory: that of Melissa Alleguez, who as a girl spent her summers on Lake Michigan stealing fig cookies from her grandmother’s cookie jar. From that image, thanks to the work of Melissa and Ryan Hubona of Goose Island’s e-commerce team, came a Bourbon County variant the brewers had chased for years, because the subtle flavour of the fig made the task anything but simple. The answer was generous: ten thousand pounds of Black Mission figs, used to bring out the dried fruit notes the bourbon lends from the barrels. The result is a stout whose profile evokes the classic fig cookie and the graham cracker, with dried fruit, honey, molasses and a hint of citrus. Goose Island’s Sir Isaac’s Stout is an indulgent, nostalgic beer, to be uncorked after a meal or on festive evenings, or to be kept in the cellar to follow its evolution.
