Description
The 2024 Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Rye Stout from Goose Island Beer Co. is a fresh take on the 2014 Vanilla Rye release, this year placing rye firmly at center stage: a rye imperial stout rests for a full year in freshly emptied rye whiskey barrels, drawing from wood and spirit a deep, rich and unmistakable spice character. Crowning the journey come intensely aromatic Madagascar vanilla beans, wrapping the beer in a velvety sweetness that never dulls its character. In the glass, 14% ABV supports an opulent body and a long finish, where vanilla converses with the peppery notes of rye, the roasted depth of the malt and the nuances of barrel influence. A bottle made for lovers of great barrel-aged stouts, and for those eager to discover how a single grain can redefine a house classic.
