Description
Reserve Bourbon County Brand Stout 2018 from Goose Island Beer Co. starts from the same base recipe as the Original and takes it somewhere else: an imperial stout matured in 12 year old Elijah Craig Barrel Proof bourbon barrels, the very casks that held a spirit named 2017 Whisky of the Year by Whisky Advocate, the highest honor in the world of international whisky. Here the beer becomes the instrument for telling the nuances of a premium, single source and highly sought after bourbon, letting the wood speak with the deep, concentrated voice of an extraordinary distillate. In the glass, 15.2% ABV supports a commanding body and a malty character of great density, where the richness of roasted malt intertwines with the enveloping warmth of the bourbon and its barrel-driven facets. A bottle made for lovers of barrel-aged stouts, for collectors of special editions, and for those who want to taste how a legendary bourbon can be read through a beer.
