Reservoir Dogs Starvation Black IPA
The most powerful and shocking beer from Reservoir Dogs' Apocalypto project is the Starvation, dark like a Stout, but fragrant like an Imperial IPA. This Black IPA, currently considered one of the best in the world according to Ratebeer, uses a combination of caramel malts with minimal amounts of roasted malt to give a hint of color. Most of the hops used come from the Cascade Range of North America. On the nose it presents fragrances of citrus, tropical fruit and pine/resin, combined with the delicate scent of caramel and notes of coffee and chocolate. On the palate, the welcome lies with caramel and red fruit at the opening, followed by notes of tropical fruit and herbaceous. The finish is rounded off by light roasted cocoa and coffee which contribute to strengthening the bitter sensation. Beer with a powerful bitterness, but perfectly balanced by a full body and an almost creamy mouthfeel.
