Description
Tripel Karmeliet by Brasserie Bosteels is a golden Belgian tripel with an alcoholic strength of 8.4%, produced in Buggenhout according to a recipe from 1679 traced to the Carmelite abbey of Dendermonde. This beer uses three cereals – barley, wheat and oats – in both malted and unmalted versions: the barley provides colour, body and base notes, the wheat gives lightness and aromas of fresh white bread, while the oats give a silky creaminess to the palate. Refermented in the bottle, it undergoes aging for six to seven weeks which develops aromatic complexity with herbaceous hints from Styria hops, ripe fruit, banana and vanilla from the yeast, balanced by a spicy, citrus and dry finish tending towards quinine. Born in 1996 from the inspiration of Antoine Bosteels Jr., son of generations of master brewers active since 1791, this drink embodies the eastern Flemish brewing tradition, with medium body, persistent foam and lively carbonation. It goes well with roasted white meats, poultry in sauce or blue cheeses such as gorgonzola, served at a temperature of 8-10°C in a tulip glass to enhance its aromas. Suitable for both horeca consumption in serving contexts and for b2c palates in everyday combinations, Tripel Karmeliet maintains a balance between freshness and structural depth.
