Description
Bourbon County Brand Stout Vertical 2017-2023 is a set of six vintages of Goose Island's most celebrated imperial stout, brewed in Chicago (USA): 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023. The 2021 vintage is not included.
Bourbon County Brand Stout was first brewed in 1992 and is regarded as the original bourbon barrel-aged stout. Each year it is matured and blended in barrels freshly emptied by some of Kentucky's best distilleries. The result is a pitch-black, dense and velvety beer with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, molasses and dried fruit, a touch of toasted oak and the warmth of bourbon on the finish.
Tasting the six vintages side by side reveals the differences in barrels, blending and bottle aging. Over the years the beer tends to soften its alcohol heat and develop mellower notes of leather, tobacco, licorice and raisin. It is a choice for enthusiasts and collectors, ideal to share with friends or to give as a gift.
Serving: in a tulip glass, at 12-14 °C (54-57 °F), taking your time. Pairs well with chocolate desserts, aged blue cheeses and cigars. Contains gluten (wheat and barley).
