Description
Organic red wine made from 100% Merlot, first bottled in 2024, sourced from a small 0.3-hectare vineyard in Morro d’Alba (AN), facing south-east at 150 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils rich in active limestone. The vines, planted in 2005 and trained using the simple guyot system with a density of 6000 plants per hectare, yield 6–8 clusters per vine, about 800 grams, harvested manually in September with careful selection in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 12 months of maturation on the lees in oak barriques and at least 3 months of bottle aging, with no fining or filtration. The result is an IGT Marche Rosso with a deep ruby color, offering an ample and complex nose of red fruits, blackberry and blackcurrant, enriched by elegant hints of spices and leather. On the palate it shows firm yet soft tannins, an enveloping structure and great body, with a long and persistent finish. With an alcohol content of 15% and only 27 mg/l of total sulfites, it pairs beautifully with rich meat-based pasta dishes, grilled meats, game, braised and slow-cooked preparations, as well as medium and long-aged cheeses.
