Description
Established in 2005, the St. George distillery is the first English distillery for more than 100 years. Each of their single malt whiskeys is assigned a chronological chapter number. The distillery, founded by James and Andrew Nelstrop, is located near the town of Thetford, Norfolk. The English Whiskey Co. produces barley, yeast and water (the three ingredients necessary for whiskey production) in England, making this a truly English spirit. Awarded "European Whiskey of the year 2017".
The family immediately realized that whiskey production was what they wanted to do. They now produce a range of award-winning peated and unpeated single malt whiskies, leading an increasingly revitalized movement of English whiskey distillers.
Distillery director David Fitt, has been named "Distillery Manager of the year 2017".
Launched in 2016, The English Whiskey Company's new range includes a pair of English single malt whiskies. This is the Original expression which shows a creamy and vanilla-rich aromatic profile. This "Unpeated" Original release is aged in Bourbon barrels, creating a whiskey with notes of vanilla ice cream, nuts and a hint of sea spray.
Nose: Zesty oranges, vanilla cream, herbaceous malt.
Palate: Cleaner than the nose, with notes of almond and hazelnut. Milk chocolate.
Finish: Rich barley and a handful of spices.
