Description
Established in 2005, the St. George distillery is the first English distillery for more than 100 years. Each of their single malt whiskeys is assigned a chronological chapter number. The distillery, founded by James and Andrew Nelstrop, is located near the town of Thetford, Norfolk. The English Whiskey Co. produces barley, yeast and water (the three ingredients necessary for whiskey production) in England, making this a truly English spirit. Awarded "European Whiskey of the year 2017".
The family immediately realized that whiskey production was what they wanted to do. They now produce a range of award-winning peated and unpeated single malt whiskies, leading an increasingly revitalized movement of English whiskey distillers.
Distillery director David Fitt, has been named "Distillery Manager of the year 2017".
English Whiskey Co.'s Chapter 15 contains an intensely peated single malt whisky, which is matured in bourbon casks for 5 years before to be bottled.
First released in November 2013, this is the 15th chapter in the company history of The English Whiskey Co. and is the peated sister of chapter 14. The first release of a 5 year old whiskey from the distillery, it has a rich fruit flavor to balance the young peat.
Nose: Embers of oak wood. Light fruits, citrus. Lemongrass and roasted lemons. A subtle hint of black cardamom.
Taste: Very fruity, lemongrass and citrus, spices and chilli and toasted marshmallows.
Finish: Dense and sweet with a long oak finish.
